  Outstanding stay with unmatched service. We came with the entire family on a march break package and there were so many amazing events and activities planned for the kids it was hard to make it to all of them. In terms of service, I've never been so well taken care of. Every hotel staff from here out will be measured against the fine folks at the Algonquin. They went the extra mile on several occasions. Great food and amenities as well. Ample comfortable lounging areas with tonnes of board games cards and chess sets to relax with. You can also order food and drink service to any of the common areas making it extremely tempting to spend a whole afternoon and evening lounging. There were many families staying on the same package so the hotel was alive with kids but they also put all the families with young children in some specific areas close to the pool. Great idea. It left other areas of the hotel for those that might want a quieter stay and gave ample opportunity for kids to meet each other. Rooms were excellent. Way above average. In short, we were 100% satisfied.

  Lovely grand old hotel. Been many years since I've been here and the refresh looks wonderful. Not a lot to do in St Andrews but the town is quaint and the people.are friendly. Nice place to spend a long weekend and play a few rounds of golf at the historic St Andrews club

  Staff was courteous, buffet breakfast on point, and the pool and fitness areas were clean, bright, and well maintained. The pool has a water slide and hot tub as well as a heated in ground pool no more than 5 feet deep in the middle. The room was nice and bathroom up to date. The hotel interior shows its age. While its not crisp like a brand new modern hotel, it has a historic charm that makes up for it.

  Our first two stays at The Algonquin were over 20 years ago, and we'd forgotten about the renovation. What a surprise when we arrived. The lobby gave us the first clue and our jaws dropped. Stunning, yet retaining the old world elegance. The staff was extremely helpful, including the bellman who parked our car, noticed that I'd left my phone in the car and brought it in to me. Our room was lovely, overlooking the bay and quite modern in conveniences. It was Easter weekend with lots of families and activities for the children. That atmosphere was fun, made so by the cheerful staff. Our dinners were not quite up to our expectations but that may be the method of cooking sous vide or the very busy night in the kitchen. Not enough to keep us away....

  I stayed here when it was the Fairmont resort. A lot has changed and overall they did a really nice job preserving the charm but giving it the updates it needed. The service I would say was just ok. It seemed like most of the people working here that we met were students on a coop or exchange. For that reason, I found the service was not what it could be and when I asked questions about St Andrews most couldn't answer as they had only been there one month or less. My advice to the hotel would be to hire more locals as they are the reason St Andrews is such a special place.
