Reviews about Niger Reef Tea House
- 4 / 5By Nikolaus MaackWe went there twice in the same day. Once for lunch, and two hours later, back for dessert. The meals were excellent. The dessert wasn't too thrilling. The first time we arrived we were early, and the place was empty. Feeling adventurous, I ordered the lobster roll sandwich. It was delicious, as was the tomato basil soup.
When we came back the second time, the lunch rush had clearly been brutal on the staff, who were running around frantically. It was supposed to rain and didn't, so it seemed they weren't expecting the crowds they got. Also, I got the impression the waitress was new. Friendly, but she and the boss hadn't figured out how to best work together. So that dynamic made eating a bit stressful.
I got the strawberry rhubarb crumble, which was a martini glass with rhubarb sauce and a few crunchy cookie bits in it. Didn't seem like a real crumble to me.
But the restaurant is a delight. A quaint little place that I think wasn't expecting a rush in late June, before all the tourists really arrive. Niger House actually strikes me as the most interesting and promising restaurant in Saint Andrew's, given that all the others on water street look like pubs selling fish and chips.June 19, 2017 - 4 / 5By Scott WhitehouseGreat dishes and views, but when a few tables are full the service really grinds to a halt.November 14, 2016
- 5 / 5By Lisa GoldsmithWe had an amazing dinner here. It was our last night for our Cape Breton/New Brunswick vacation and we wanted something special, and Niger Reef delivered in spades. We arrived on time for our reservation and only had to wait a few minutes for our table on the deck. Service was ultra-friendly and food was scrumptious. We were there during sunset and as it cooled off considerably our waitress came out to distribute blankets so we could continue to enjoy the wonderful views. Highly recommend!October 15, 2016
- 5 / 5By Carolann DohertyI visited this Tea House for lunch July 5, 2016 along with 19 other ladies in my knitting group. We sat on the outside balcony...the weather was superb..a beautiful bright sunny day with a breeze coming in off the water.
Lunch was excellent...the menu offered a variety of delicious items and whatever was ordered was very well presented!!! The wait staff were very cordial and had a detailed knowledge of all of the food items on the menu. Service was impeccable...and we all were very satisfied with the whole event. It is not my first time at this eating establishment...and I was happy to recommend it and would continue to do so in the future.
BRAVO DAVID and STAFF!!! Keep doing what you are doing!! It certainly works!!October 01, 2016 - 1 / 5By Edan LandaWe came with a large group of people and we sat in the patio. The food was alright but afterwards it started to get windy and even started to rain, we asked if we can move inside and they told us they had too many reserved tables to move us in and so we ate in the cold and rain . After our meal I looked inside and most of the tables were empty and were infact not reserved. After I compained she laughed at my face and said "ok". Horrible service, never again.September 02, 2016
